William Richard Fletcher-Vane, 2nd Baron Inglewood DL, usually called Richard Inglewood is a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom. He was Member of the European Parliament for Cumbria and Lancashire North from 1989 to 1994, and for North West England from 1999 to 2004. Inglewood is the eldest son of former Conservative Member of Parliament William Fletcher-Vane and his wife Mary n�e Proby. He was educated at Eton and at Trinity College, Cambridge, and was called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1975. He married Cressida Pemberton-Pigott in 1986. They have one son, Henry William Frederick Fletcher-Vane born in 1990, and two daughters. At the 1983 general election, he stood as the Conservative candidate in the safe Labour constituency of Houghton and Washington, where he finished third with 24% of the votes. At the European Parliament election, 1984 he stood unsuccessfully in the Durham constituency, but at 1989 European election he was elected as Member of the European Parliament for Cumbria and Lancashire North. He lost his seat the 1994 election, but at the European Parliament election, 1999 he was elected for the new North West England constitituency.
