Description
Carolyn Jane Schuler is an American former competition swimmer, two-time Olympic champion, and former world record-holder. She competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, where she won a gold medal for her first-place finish in the women's 100-meter butterfly, with a new Olympic record time of 1:09.5. She received a second gold medal as a member of the first-place U.S. team in the women's 4x100-meter medley relay, together with teammates Lynn Burke, Patty Kempner, and Chris von Saltza. The winning U.S medley relay set a new world record of 4:41.1 in the event final.
