Description
Ulf "Uffe" Christian Johan Schmidt is a former Swedish tennis player. He competed for AIK from Solna.
He won 14 singles' tournaments, among them the International Swedish Championships in B�stad in 1957 and 1961. In 1958 he and Sven Davidson won the doubles in Wimbledon. They were the first Swedish winners before the Borg era.
Schmidt was ranked World No. 8 for 1958 by Lance Tingay of The Daily Telegraph.
He played 102 Davis Cup matches for Sweden and won 66 of them.
