Jacquetta May is a British actress, writer and theatre director. The Kent born actress worked in theatre for ten years after leaving Bristol University, with one short television role as a vengeful wife in the ITV police drama The Bill. On stage she has played Rita in Educating Rita, Beverley in Abigail's Party, Lady Chatterley in Lady Chatterley's Lover and a various assortment of roles at the National Theatre. In 1991 she was cast in her most notable role to date. She played Rachel Kominski in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders from 1991 to 1993. She has also had roles in the televised programmes: Crocodile Shoes, Cardiac Arrest,Dangerfield, Home Farm Twins, Peak Practice, Down to Earth, I'm Alan Partridge, Holby City, Silent Witness, The Bill and most recently Being Human. Film appearances have included Get Real as Steven's mother, Jackie Carter, and The Naked Cell. She has written episodes of New Tricks and Where the Heart Is and an episode of Torchwood called "Random Shoes".
