Description
Sa?a Stani?i? is a Bosnian/German writer. He was born in Visegrad in Bosnia and came to Germany as a refugee of the Bosnian War when he was 14 years old. He has written an acclaimed novel in German which was published in English under the title How the Soldier Repairs the Gramophone. The book has won a host of prizes in Germany and abroad, and has been translated into several European languages. The English translation was done by Anthea Bell and won the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize. It was also adapted for the stage by the Stadtschauspielhaus Graz, where Stani?i? was the city?s writer-in-residence.
